David E. Bernsen has zealously advocated for his clients for more than 30 years and has litigated hundreds of cases to jury verdict. His primary area of practice at the Bernsen Law Firm is complex litigation focusing on personal injury, products liability, property damage, insurance claims, industrial accidents, automobile and tractor-trailer accidents, RICO litigation, bank fraud and conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duty, commercial matters, civil rights and discrimination, general negligence and contract cases.David attended law school at St. Mary’s University and received his law degree in 1976. He began his legal career as a clerk for Chief Judge of the Eastern District of Texas Joe J. Fisher.

As a Jefferson County attorney, David’s experience litigating for both plaintiffs and defendants gives him unique perspective and insight. He is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest recognition in the legal industry, for his professionalism and ethics. David has also served his community as a State Senator and authored legislation concerning coastal erosion and planning for the State of Texas. During his time as a Senator, he also co-authored a bill to monitor the bays and estuaries of Texas and an amendment to the Clean Air Act closing the grandfather loophole that allowed industrial sites to continue to emit smog-producing pollutants and several other pieces of legislation, and was a sponsor of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIPS).

David and his wife, Dinah, reside in Beaumont and attend Trinity Methodist Church.
