The Nederland Bulldog Booster Club recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new indoor hitting facility for Nederland High School’s baseball and softball programs.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 10 at the Nederland High School Baseball/Softball Facility, where community members gathered to mark the occasion and celebrate a major investment in student-athletes.
The new Bulldog Hitting Facility provides a dedicated space where student-athletes can practice hitting and improve their skills throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions. The project represents a meaningful addition to Nederland High School athletics and reflects strong support from the local community.
Members of the baseball and softball teams, along with coaches, school administrators, and community supporters, attended the event to celebrate the milestone.
“This facility represents what can happen when a community comes together to support its students,” said B.J. Berry of the Nederland Bulldog Booster Club. “Our athletes now have a place to train year-round, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with the Nederland community.”
The project was made possible through the efforts of the Nederland Bulldog Booster Club and the support of numerous local sponsors, including Bernsen Law Firm, a title sponsor that helped make the construction of the facility possible.
As part of the celebration, David Bernsen of Bernsen Law Firm was recognized for his support of the project.
A former Lamar Cardinals pitcher who helped lead Lamar to its first Southland Conference baseball championship in 1971, Bernsen is also a member of the Lamar University Cardinal Hall of Honor. During the event, he threw out the ceremonial first pitch, marking the official opening of the new facility.
“We’re proud to support opportunities that help young people grow and succeed,” said Bernsen. “Facilities like this give student-athletes the chance to develop their skills and pursue their goals.”
